EXPLANATION OF HOW INJURY OCURED:
Jubstin was heading to Cartel 15 traveling west bound on Colfax ( also I-70 frontage road) when he thought he missed his turn. The call sheet said to go under I-70. He turned around and went back to were he thought he needed to go. His GPS reloaded and he realized he was going the right direction to start with. He attempted to back his trailer in the crossover on blind side. It was still a little dark and he didnt realize his trailer was going into the ditch on driver side. Traffic was starting to get heavy and he was blocking the road. He attempted to jackknife his trailer to head back the other direction. In doing so he drug his landing gear on the pavement at a side angle, bending the landing gear and also breaking the emergency airline at the tractor. He was able the get the trailer out of the ditch and back on the road.
AFFECTED BODY PARTS:
No injury to employee. Only property damage. Broken airline on trailer and bent landing gear.
RECCOMENDATION FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION:
I talked to Justin about what he would do next time. He said the would drive to a spot that was better suited and had plenty of room to turn around.
